Fourth Degree Organizational Meeting in Richmond

June 27, 2015 - Officers of the Virginia District of the Fourth Degree joined incoming Faithful Navigators and Comtrollers of Assemblies from around the state for their annual organizational meeting in Richmond.  Also attending were Admirals and Color Corps Commanders. The gathering was held at St. Benedict School.

District Master Tom Trudeau described the "State of the District," where exemplifications during the past year have brought total membership to 6,368 Sir Knights. Our goal, he said, is to grow by ten pecent during the coming year.

The new Membership/New Asssembly Development Chairman, Ed Gilliken stressed that recruitment is a year-round activity.

This year's fall exemplification will be held in Northern Virginia, at the Westfields Marriott in Chantilly, just off Route 28 near Dulles Airport.

Trudeau reminded everyone of the many ways in which Assemblies can become more active in civic and patriotic activities, such as the "Ride to Recovery" for younger veterans, ahd "Honor Flights" for World War II veterans making trips to Washington, D.C.

Among the materials distributed to new Navigators were revised procedures for the Chalice Ceremony, which is a state and not a Supreme Council event.

Trudeau noted that the "bare bones" exemplification that was held in Virginia Beach last spring was very well received, especially by younger Knights who were able to receive their Fourth Degree without the expense (hotel stays, extra meals, etc) normally associated with the fall event. He said that he plans to make it a recurring option for those wishing to join the Patriotic Degree in Virginia.
