February 2014 - Joseph M Johnson Council 7538 in Ashland, Virginia participated in the nationwide Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids program this year, purchasing a box of coats for needy children in Hanover County. Past Grand Knight Dave DePuy purchased a second box, so that the Council could also provide coats in Caroline County.
Shown in the picture at left are GK Don Montag and PGK Dave DePuy, with Paula Little, of the Henry Clay Elementary School in Ashland. The other box was given to the outreach program at St. Mary’s parish in Ladysmith.
The nationwide Coats for Kids Program was launched by the Supreme Council in 2009. During the winter of 2013-2014, nearly 52,000 coats were distributed by 1,195 councils all around the United States and Canada.
