About Our Council
Ambrose Council was founded in 1983 at St. Ambrose Parish, Annandale, Virginia. Msgr. William Reinecke was the Pastor who welcomed the Council to the parish.
The Charter Grand Knight was Patrick Donohue, and the Chaplain was Father Paul Wynants, CICM. Our current Chaplain is Father Andrew J. Fisher.
Our business meetings are held at 8 PM in the Parish Activity Center at 3901 Woodburn Road on the second Tuesday of every month.
Ambrose Council is one of the thousands of councils in the Knights of Columbus. Benefits of membership in our order include optional insurance and the monthly magazine Columbia. More information on our international order can be found here.
Our Activities
As a parish council, Ambrose Council has provided support to pastors for many years. Examples include: sponsoring parish cleanup days; helping with seasonal decorations in the church; setting up, serving and cleaning up for receptions; assembling equipment for the school; painting rooms in the rectory; replacing the cross in front of the church.

Ambrose Council participates in the annual KOVAR campaign to raise funds to aid Virginians with intellectual disabilities. With proceeds from an annual fundraiser, we contribute to St. Ambrose Parish and School, seminarians of Arlington Diocese, problem pregnancy centers, priests' intentions and other worthy recipients. We participate in the annual Keep Christ in Christmas campaign, selling religious Christmas cards after Masses and donating proceeds to Christ House in Alexandria.
Ambrose Council practices hospitality by providing coffee and donuts after Masses, and by hosting pancake breakfasts and spaghetti dinners for the Parish.
We host an Ice Cream Social at the beginning of the school year, provide financial and other support to the parish School and Youth Group, and work with the PTO on Parish Family Fun nights.
Overall, we strive to have a varied program of activities in support of Church, Family, Youth, Community, and Council. Active membership in Ambrose Council provides us with many opportunities to practice our faith and form friendships with like-minded men.
