E.D. White Council 2473 feeds the needy and homebound in Northern Virginia on Thanksgiving for the 30th consecutive year

November 27, 2014 - Members of Edward Douglass White Council 2473, their wives and families, and numerous other volunteers prepared more than 2.8 tons of turkey with all the fixings for Thanksgiving Day meals for more than 2,500 area residents who were needy or homebound, and would not otherwise have had a special meal on the Thanksgiving holiday.  It was the 30th annual event, and was an enormous undertaking.

This year's co-chairs were David and Shannon Nassar, and Thom and Marijo Galvinare

The turkey dinners were prepared at the council home in Arlington, Virginia and by volunteers who cooked turkeys at home and brought them in to be make ready by over 250 volunteer cooks, servers, drivers and other helpers.

Hundreds of area residents were transported to the council hall for a sit-down dinner on Thanksgiving afternoon in buses and vans made available by Bishop O'Connell High School, Marymount University and the Jhoon Rhee School of Karate, as well as by Uber DC.

Volunteers also delivered Thanksgiving dinners to hundreds of home bound individuals who were unable to travel to the council home.
