Star Council winners for 2015-2016 honored at Quarterly Meeting

Representatives from the 38 Virginia Councils winning the Star Council Award for the 2015-2016 Fraternal Year were honored at the October 1 Quarterly Meeting in Fredericksburg

October 1, 2016 - Council leaders from around the State of Virginia met for the State Council's Quarterly Meeting at Holy Cross Academy in Fredericksburg.

The gathering was also the occasion for the official annual meeting of the Virginia Knights of Columbus Charities, Inc. (VKCCI).

In addition to reports from the state officers, the list of speakers included Jeff Caruso, Executive Director of the Virginia Catholic Conference, and the four state directors: Mark Janda, Programs; Jim Glover, Membership; Gary Lee, Training, and Pat Korten, Communications.

A highlight of the day was the presentation of Star Council Awards to the 38 councils which earned the award during the 2015-2016 Fraternal year. Immediate Past State Deputy Steve Raschke was on hand to give out the awards and extend his personal thanks to all who worked so hard to make his year as SD a very successful one.

KOVAR Prsident Daniel Hurley provided a report on Virginia's efforts to provide assistance to those with intellectual handicaps, and the Chairman of the 2017 convention in Williamsburg offered an update on preparations under way.  Both Associate State Chaplains, Fr. John Abe and Fr. John Cregan, were able to attend the meeting, and provided their thoughts on many of the important issues of the day for faithful Catholics, including this year's election.
