Ultrasound Machine dedicated in Annandale

Friday, January 24, 2014 - State officers and key players in District 18's extraordinary fundraising drive for ultrasound machines and pregnancy center support gathered in Annandale for the dedication of their latest donation, to the Assist Pregnancy Center.

The new ultrasound machine was blessed by Fr. Denis Donahue, the pastor of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Falls Church. Sister Clare Hunter, director of the Office of Pro-life Activities for the Arlington Diocese, was also on hand to celebrate the occasion, as were State Deputy Tony Fortunato, State Secretary Steve Burnley and their wives.

The Executive Director of the Assist Pregnancy Center, Jane Fuller, said, "What a privilege it is to co-labor with the Knights of Columbus to promote LIFE here in Northern Virginia!”

Councils in District 18 raised more than $75,000 in fundraising appeals in every parish in the district, and last year placed its first machine at the 1st Choice Women's Health Center in Landsdowne. They also made a sutstantial donation to the Tepeyac Clinic in Fairfax, which had received the first KC ultrasound donation back in 2010.

Also on hand for the Annandale event were the current District Deputy, Steve Rogers, former DD Dave Crew, and Don Roessler, past DGK of Corpus Christi Council 13468 in South Riding. Roessler was instrumental in performing technical assessment and contract negotiation for the ultrasound machines.
