August 15, 2013 - More than a dozen Sir Knights from Msgr. Francis L. Bradican Assembly 2996 prepared burgers, beans, potato salad, chips, cookies and cake for several hundred wounded warriors and other service members and their families at Fort Belvoir's USO Wounded Warrior and Family Center. The center opened in February 2013.
The event is believed to be the first Knights of Columbus cookout at the Center, which is situated next to the Warrior Transition Unit and a new hospital facility. It took place, appropriately, during Knights of Columbus Family Week (August 10-18), and was open to family members, care givers and active duty personnel.
Several members of Msgr. Bradican Assembly are regular year-round volunteers at the USO at Fr. Belvoir. The new USO Warrior and Family Center is the largest USO facility ever constructed, with more than 25,000 square feet of space.
